Sporting a more mature look, Tarkan took time out from a busy schedule to take to the stage at the special event on the 29th May, keeping the promise he made to continue his support in order to improve the living of children in need.

Hosted by news anchorwoman, Miss Universe 1990 beauty contestant Jülide Ateş, Tarkan helped to create an unforgettable evening for the cultural capital's specially invited 450 socialites, as they raised money for Mika-Der's tiny hearts at the benefit concert.

Entertainment media channels say that over a million Turkish liras was raised during the annual evening, with Mika-Der's chairman Nersin Ercan joining Tarkan on stage during his appearance yesterday to thank him for his continued contributions to the charity.

Last year, taking a break from a series of national summer concerts for soft drink giant Fanta, the king of Turkish pop had visited orphaned children with Mika-Der at a child village in the Turkish province of Kocaeli, near neighbouring Istanbul.

Tarkan joined the ranks of Mika-Der in 2009, when he first took to the stage for a special grant ball to raise money for the association, where it was reported that nearly a million Turkish liras was raised during the 2009 evening for the benefit of the children.

"I'd do anything for them. I'm always by your side. Hoping to make many projects real in many cities," Tarkan had said at the exclusive evening, while renewing his promise to support Mika-Der in its new projects, which the singer kept with his repeat performance yesterday evening.

The Tiny Hearts Foundation was created in 2006 with the aim of improving the condition and care of children living in nurseries and orphanages in Turkey.
